He was meant to be our spiritual guide but instead, he groomed us!

Photo Credit : Artificial Intelligence (AI)   It was started on an undertone- one of curiosity, featuring a strange, close camaraderie between a teacher and girls, who once had been his mentees and had been bestowed with a title of a mentor, Christian Union patron and even a History & German teacher. No one was willing to believe that. By no means was it fathomable, at Alliance Girls, a school of excellent academic record and a fierce morality. However, an alumna like Christine Mungai paid more attention. Being a journalist with a 15-year experience in the industry, she tracked the pattern; intense emotional bonds that morphed into grooming. Five former students disclosed themselves-two of which remembered having a non-consensual physical contact when still in school. Another one involved a kiss, which was forced, a few weeks after graduation. There are more similar stories; girls suffering in Peter Ayiro’s period of influence- trepidation in line with sexual abuse over th...

Revealing her Power: The Resilience and Elegance of Womanhood

Perhaps you could be wondering what the title is up to, Ahem, Ahem! Who is a woman and what are her strengths? If anyone could ask me who is the strongest human created on earth, I would mention, "Of course it is a woman," without batting an eyelid. I am much aware a proportion of you could dispute this, but guess what, probably you could have a different opinion after reading this fascinating piece.

Lemme begin with a woman in love. I'm pretty sure you have seen how a woman in love radiates with joy and glimmer. When her spirit is happy, it does not fail to reflect on her visage. She exudes exuberance as she fearlessly espouses vulnerability, putting on her heart on her sleeve with steadfast resolve. As she steers the labyrinthine dance of intimacy with the one she loves dearly, she weaves a drapery of trust, honesty as well as understanding. Her beloved gets to see the good in her multiple times, as her love illuminates even the darkest sections of the heart with compassion; cascading saccharine words as it's all warm and fuzzy. Her power lies in femininity; her soft spokenness, gentleness and firmness of speech and actions.

Not only does her power lie in her capacity to love deeply but also in her unfluctuating sense of self worth.  She not only shows that she is pretty much aware of her value, but also holds her ground on her core values. A woman that knows her worth does not settle for less even if it is the only one available, because she is not a signatory to a scarcity mindset. Cognizant of self-awareness, she approaches relationships with a robust balance of sovereignty and devotion, recognizing that her felicity is not determined by another, but rather, comes from within.

Moments of heartache are not uncommon in the lifetime of a woman. During these times, she has her resilience that endows and propels her like a beacon of light in pitch darkness. In spite of the pain of a breakup, she stands gallantly and refuses to let her past define her, for that is a chapter closed, ready to open another chapter in her life. She remains optimistic and focuses on her hobbies and gets engrossed into making her new life worthwhile. With each tear shed, she collects her shattered heart pieces and remodels them into lemonades, for the bitter lemons thrown at her are an opportunity for her to be the stepping stones of a dazzling tomorrow. Her power lies in her aptitude to find beauty in the midst of mayhem, adopting the lessons from love lost and emerging from the dusts, stronger and blissful like never before- A phoenix reborn!

And then amidst the retreats and flow of life, she stumbles upon another tide- an invisible contest waged within her own body- The crimson. Dear reader, I am certain you are having multiple questions here, is it the crimson, aunty flo, or ta-da.....Menstruation. How does she persevere the relentless cramps and discomfort, the hurting billows of pain that tag along her monthly cycle? Does she succumb to the anguish or rise like a warrior queen who appreciates her body's natural tempo? Does she embrace her femininity as she manages her flow with modesty? Is she aware that the tides are a symbol of her power rather than weaknesses; declining to let her body dictate her sense of dignity?

In the crucible of hardships, whether in matters of her body or her heart, a woman's strength is pretty evident, she triumphs amidst everything! Whether she undergoes a miscarriage, job loss, depression or gender based violence, she emerges a victor, not a victim. A woman is a conqueror, in my native they say 'Shujaa.'  A woman's fortification is beyond doubt- a testament to resilience, elegance and unbending spirit of womanhood.
